Message | We oppose this as we believe all parts of the media should be under the democratic control of the population and not run in a dictatorial way by any corporation. A high degree of choice is already provided since anyone is free to set up a non-profit making channel as long as it remains under democratic management. |

Message | Our media is entirely state-funded, not state-controlled. What's wrong with that? |

Message | What "All television stations are owned by the state" brings to mind to me is that citizens are NOT allowed to start their own channels, and instead have to put up with whatever's already there. However if the views coming across here are true, then the situation is better than that. I wonder how you people tell though. If you had to categorise North Korea's media, it would fall under that category. Meanwhile even China, to my knowledge, fits into the other one which I am suggesting. As does indeed Britian, which has the BBC. |

Message | Well I've proposed (in the forums) the creation of a new proposal/bill/issue-thing that would clarify the matter. It will allow us to set the level of media censorship by the government. So we can have state-owned media but no censorship. North Korea has state-owned media with heavy censorship. |
