Bill: Liberty, Prosperity, Individuality

Details

Submitted by[?]: Freedom Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2073

Description[?]:

A new national motto of
"Liberty, Prosperity, Individuality"

I think we might be able to get this to pass.

Individuality is a noble value. Individuality reflects the fact that people have different ideals, values and experience. That they are allowed to express them and be themselves.

We can not say that everyone has to be the same, individuality is saying that everyone is different and therefore we must all be ourselves.

MessageSDP: why are you against it? To us, "individuality" is a noble thing, unity in diversity and all that. Whereas "efficiency", while generally a good thing, has more the smack of what capitalists demand of their employees. We've supported this motto change every time.

MessageI'm against it because, even though individuality is good to a certain degree, it might encourage egoistic behaviour as in "everyone has to look after themselves" rather than a community in which the community supports the weak.

MessageI agree that "efficiency" sounds too capitalist, but I feel we shouldn't replace it with "individuality". I'd rather have something along the lines of "Equality", "Justice", or "Brotherhood".

MessageNo way equality, justice is also socialist sounding and brotherhood as well.

Indiviuality goes across all spectrums with only opposition ideologically from communists

MessageHuh. I guess I don't associate the word "individuality" with egoism. As I say, to me it just celebrates the fact that we're all different in various interesting ways.

We'd support Equality, Justice or Brotherhood as well, but something tells us they ain't gonna get through.
