Message | We had a similar bill before, but it didn't pass because it also proposed changing the size of the Assembly. |

Message | Hghly paid politicians in the US are one of the best examples of corruption in the modern world! I vote yes in principle, we'll see if we can get this set once the economy comes online. |

Message | Isn't it a little corrupt to need hundreds of millions of dollars to run for the Presidency? I'll agree, its not about illegal corruption there. Instead the corruption is open and boils down to favourable deals for large industry (oil and drilling the Alaska wildlife preserve) and other corporate interests. While I'm not ideologically opposed to private companies, I don't think they should be ones who decide who runs the government either. It must be the people. And the people must have their ballot open. Was it fair that Nader had his name on and off the ballots thanks to other parties? Is it democratic that Congress Districts are drawn up by partisan panels and destroy most vote's effect? I consider impartiality to be essential to an open and healthy democracy. And money and politics have so complex a relationship... |

Message | In fact the problem is not the money they get, but the power they have. And the less power they have the less coruption possibilities and the less harm they can do to the country. I was pissed off when Badnarik got arrested when trying to ge into a debate with Bush and Kerry. |

Message | > I was pissed off when Badnarik got arrested when trying to ge into a debate with Bush and Kerry. Absolutely! American politics is a closed shop, which is immensely irritating if you believe in the principles their nation was set up on (besides slavery!) and have respect for their constitution like I do. US constitution and legal system good. US politics hopeless! I would have voted for Kerry in the last election even though I'm a conservative in my own words. My favourite candidate would have been John McCain. Fat chance.... |

Message | The problem with power is that SOMEONE must have it, PLP. And I'd rather give it to elected officials than unelected corporate tycoons. |
