Bill: Foreign Aid Policy

Details

Submitted by[?]: Hobrazian Peoples Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2287

Description[?]:

As we understand, it is the privilege for every nation to be lord in its own house. It is also the decision of all nations whether they will aid other nations if asked or if needed. We share and always have shared the policy that noone should interfere with our national decision other than our parliament and the population of Hobrazia. This population has now spoken to us in a recent public opinion poll and has stated that the HPP policy all the way has been the wish of the hobrazian people. Therefore we propose this bill to stop our nation from interfering with other nations, and to preserve our neutrality in wars and other political situation where choosing sides may occur. We have always thought of the importance of listening to the people also in between elections. Therefore we out up this motion.

MessageWhy? This is just silly. Hobrazia can help those in need without interfering.

MessageIt's good to know that the HPP is listening to the people, but it is a shame to note that they have not heard them. With only 28.76% of the population supporting the position recommended by the HPP it seems that they have ignored the wishes of the majority, the other 71.24% who wish that there be at least a limited amount of aid given to foreign Countries, with almost 25% demanding that we give high levels of aid.
It seems that the HPP position is at odds with the population rather than their wish.

MessageWe should help all people in need, regardless of whether there has been a disaster. Yes, stopping aid might make us a neutral force, but do we want to be neutral in the face of poverty?
