Bill: Tax Relief for Newly Unemployed Workers Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Telamon Royalist Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 2287
Description[?]:
KQI Inc., one of the largest corporations in the Commonwealth, has gone under, as announced in the Global News today. There are large numbers of our people now out of work, and living under the spectre of taxes they can suddenly not pay, as they were employed at midnight on January 1st, and thus employed as far as the tax rolls are concerned, but lost their jobs later that day. This act would eliminate the burden of national taxes on people who can prove that they were employed as of December 1 of last year, but as of the time of this bill being drafted were not. This exemption from taxes would apply until such time as those unemployed at this time have rejoined the workforce or a period of 2 years has passed, whichever comes first. |

Message | The Royalist Party would like to apologize for ending formal debate and heading to vote so quickly, but time is of the essence for this resolution, as I think you can see. |

Message | This is why Tony Blair thinks, "Why am I in this party," every time one of his backbenchers makes a suggestion like this and smiles to himself when a Conservative asks him. Whilst I sympathise with the affected people, taxes affect only actual income, not expected income. Quite possibly, taxes have already come out of their pay, and if not, 2 years is still certainly rediculous. I must oppose this motion as a matter of course and ask the honourable gentleman for his understanding. |

Message | It was an example!!! You use real-life experience and apply it here; sometimes, debate calls for analogies. |
