Bill: SP - Monarchy Conventions 2292
Details
Submitted by[?]: Páirtí Sóisialach
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2293
Description[?]:
I would like to open this debate by saying that I understand the points put forward by the IADP and that I am more than willing to listen. My proposal is that we have a dormant nominal monarchy (which would allow us to continue with our spurious orders and peerages ad nauseum), but that is namless, shapeless, powerless and formless. |

Message | First, you need to agree that Britain does not exist in the fictional world of Terra. Secondly, I'm afraid this might mess with the RP being played out by the Royalists. I'd really hate to mess with what they're creating it should be interesting. Finally, a point of curiousity. Why do you title your things SP and not CP. Is that a Brit thing? |

Message | Well, the intent of the TRP is to establish a monarchical head of state with few to no powers. Melissa Calderon holds that she has evidence that she is the legal heir to the throne as it sits unoccupied now. (According to our Wiki page, we've had an empty throne since sometime in the mid-1600s.) If we ever win a controlling majority in Parliment, we intend to install her as Queen, and then promptly present a cabinet proposal which doesn't give us any ministries, to show that we don't want the Queen to dominate politics. We would also divest any and all political power that the Head of State has away from her. We would probably then change our name to the Crown Loyalist Party, too. |

Message | I agree that-barring rhetorical example-I shall not mention Britain again. You have my word. On your second point, how about we agree to everything in the resolution about a monarchy, with the exception that the monarchy is vacant because law at the time of the vacancy prevented inheritance through the maternal line through which Frau Calderon claims the throne? Does that make everyone happy? On the SP thing, I got the inspiration for the Centre party from the Norwegian Centre Party, where Centre party is spelt Senterpartiet, thus SP. I also prefer SP over CP because CP is more often used to abbreviate Conservative Party, which I know you love them all. :) |

Message | And Communist Party. : P But ya, what you proposed sounds reasonable. To simplify, though, we could simply state that references to the royalty are a seven century old tradition, and date back to the last king of Telamon almost that many years ago. Kind of like how the king/queen of England still bears the title "Defender of the Faith" from its Catholic days. ((Alright, I admit, I'm overdosing on European History this year in school)). |

Message | The Socialist Party do not believe that a non-elected individual should be given rights over another, even minor rights, due only to a hereditary birth. |

Message | The TLRP believes that our country should have the ROyal family back to the place there are suppose to be. They should represent our nation and it`s beatifull history. |

Message | We certainly support this. Also, it sounds like we have the TLRP's support for putting Melissa Calderon on the throne, and if that's so, thank you! |

Message | We love the Royalists. They're our best in game friends, but on the topic of monarchy we differ. I hope they understand. |

Random fact: Particracy allows you to establish an unelected head of state like a monarch or a president-for-life, but doing this is a bit of a process. First elect a candidate with the name "." to the Head of State position. Then change your law on the "Structure of the executive branch" to "The head of state is hereditary and symbolic; the head of government chairs the cabinet" and change the "formal title of the head of state" to how you want the new head of state's title and name to appear (eg. King Percy XVI). |
Random quote: "I bet their mothers don't love them. Many Trigunian women are so cold. I mean it's a racist hellhole in parts." - Tirza Sommer, former Dorvish politician |
