| Message | This bill and its proposals seem poorly thought through. Article 1 currently allows for the people, rich and poor, to choose what service they wish. The maximum prices are regulated to guarantee that the people are not being "ripped-off" but the allowance of competition allows greater diversity for people to choose the energy package that best suits their needs whilst guaranteeing them the highest quality of service. Article 2 has not been considered thoroughly. Why not allow people to choose where they send their children to begin their education. The current system actually allows for more money to be spent per child within both the private and public sphere than would changing the system to the proposed. Currently due to the ability of some to be taught outside of the public sphere, whilst also guaranteeing the educational input received through regulation, the money that would otherwise have been spent educating those within the private sphere can be spent on those fewer within the public sphere. This allows for higher expenditure per child than would be possible forcing all of those children into the public sphere without large scale increases in public expenditure, which must be provided by taxation. Article 3 is the most insidious of them all. Why should not a person, or family, be allowed to own their own home? If they decide they would like to redecorate, who pays? Is the housing provided free? What of those houses that are larger than others, why should only some people receive larger homes when all housing is owned by the State? Who pays for the upkeep of those houses? Currently people can own their own homes and modify those homes according to their needs. Those people who are unable to afford their own homes are supported by the State in providing low cost housing to those who need it, whilst also being helped to improve their situation so that they can either purchase said housing outright, in which case that money is used to construct new housing, or to save in order to purchase a different, possibly larger abode. Why should they not have the choice whether to own or rent, why should they be forced into selling their homes to the State (assuming of course that those homes are not just repossessed), and most importantly, once the State owns all the housing, what's to stop the State from forcibly evicting any tenant that the State deems unsatisfactory. This bill places no safe guards to protecting the people but only increases State control over them. |
