Message | So you're giving power to the people by removing power stations from their ownership? |
Date | 00:11:19, October 19, 2006 CET | From | Aloria Peace Party | To | Debating the power to the people |
Message | Private ownership concentrates control in the hands of an unaccountable and privileged few and as a result is anti-democratic. Increasing the responsibilities of public bodies in regards to the commanding heights of the economy is increasing the democratic profile of our nation. It is as a result of this increased democratic control that we fully support this bill, with the hope of further improvements of this kind. Furthermore, monopolies in industries such as power generation allow for citizens to benefit from economies of scale, pay less for their energy and thus have increased utility, something which we fully support. |

Message | Sorry, after a hard decision in that one huge bill, ICP is regaining "points" with its voter base. |
Date | 02:45:44, October 19, 2006 CET | From | Peoples Party of Aloria | To | Debating the power to the people |
Message | The peoples party joins with the alorian peace party in demanding greater public ownership of industry. We reject the LA philospohy of private ownership and lack of regulation, which creates inequality and exploitation of the proletariat. |

Message | Inequality of reward perhaps, but that is certainly better than evenly shared lack of reward. |
Date | 18:41:31, October 19, 2006 CET | From | Aloria Peace Party | To | Debating the power to the people |
Message | This is not a question of reward, but a question of provision of the necessities of contemporary life. By voting for this bill we are ensuring that the vital components of our nation are in the hands of the people and not the rich. These imperative components of our nation are through this bill guaranteed by removing them from the hands of the rich and placing them under democratic control and remove them from the vicissitudes of the market and ensure minimum quality of service. |
