Bill: Restoring the Education System
Details
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2075
Description[?]:
Recognizing that the public education system has successfully served the residents of Lodamun for over 45 years, we are proposing to re-establish the public education system. We also recognize that some affluent or religious parents may wish to send their children to alternative schools, and we will respect this decision, ensuring that private and religious schools are regulated to a curriculum standard. The public education system has only been shut down for two years, and most public school infrastructure is still standing, so this will come at minimal costs to the taxpayer. |

Message | Keep the government out of the classroom. When will our colleagues in the house rwealise that the task af the government is to govern, and nothing more. We are not teachers, we are not investment specialists, we are not doctors, we are not transport workers. As such let the professionals do their jobs and we will do ours by providing the conditions for them to act within. Strongly opposed if you did not understand the message. |

Message | ((Damn, you beat me to it!)) Public education must be restored, before the damage done by the free-market zealots to our education system becomes irreversible. |

Message | The only indicator I know of is voter turnout, as it tends to demonstrate how well informed our populace is. As of this last election, the downward trend reversed and we went from %56.86 to %62.13. We also note that this is the highest turnout since 2058. |

Message | We do not see any advantage in reverting to an archaic system. We are funding education through vouchers. Why do the honorable members think that they should have the right to regulate what our citizens learn? Do they wish to control or otherwise limit the curricula? This is the only motivation that is apparent for trying to reapply government control on what is taught. A true democracy requires freedom of idea, freedom of expresion and freedom of ideology. That can only be achieved if there is no government influence or control on the media and on education. This is the situation that we are trying to set up and it appears to be the situation that other members of parliament are opposed to for some unexplained and inexplicable reason. We will vote against this act. |
