Message | Speech from Alexander Thompson, Leader of the Militarist Party of Sekowo: “Delegates of the general assembly, we feel that the need for the implementation of this act is evident and that it’s passing into law can only benefit the nation and the people. The people want and need these reforms, and the Nation must take action to maintain our sovereignty and economic integrity. We ask you to support this bill for the good of the country. Long live Sekowo.” |
Date | 12:07:05, October 19, 2006 CET | From | Capitalist Party of Sekowo | To | Debating the The Economic Reform Act |
Message | OOC: Article 8 seems a bit strange to me, seeing as you seem to support the lower and middle classes. This is not a jab at you. Im just saying, working class would seem to support Trade Unions. IC: Speech from Andrew Dale: "This is proposterous! Article 2 is taking freedom from our businesses!.. Article 4 takes freedom away from all of our citizens!.. Article 8 we support. And article 10 seems to me to be racism. A clear sign the Militarist part care nothing for our citizens, or even their own supporters!" |
Date | 21:23:18, October 19, 2006 CET | From | Militarist Party | To | Debating the The Economic Reform Act |
Message | OCC: I see what you mean, but let me explain. The Party’s philosophy (although I’ve not written it out or made it all that clear, I know.), their philosophy is that the State must be responsible for the welfare of its citizens, and to do this, they have to protect the economy. Trade unions are about striking to force the higher ups to be fairer, or make things better for the strikers, or what have you. If the government is doing this for them, there is no need to have labour unions, and so the only reason for unions to exist in such a situation would be to use their influence to make things better for themselves, at the expense of the economy, and therefore the country. And so, that’s why the Militarist Party wants to ban unions. That, and so that if they were ever elected, unions wouldn’t threaten their power. But the latter officially. IC: Stated by Matthew Waylon, member of the Central Committee of the Militarist Party, in a radio interview: “Andrew Dale says that the proposed tax increase takes away freedom from the business sector. He knows well that it does not. What it would take away is profit, profit from the wealthy business elite of the nation that do not need any more of. The money would be used to help those who don’t have the benefit of a Goliath of a corporation to feed their families our pay their rent. The only reason to oppose this article is sheer greed. Article four of the bill is only common sense. Fireworks are explosives. We only allow explosive experts to operate dynamite, so why let just anyone operate black powder and other explosive chemicals? It is evident that the average person does not need to be able to operate fireworks. The public fireworks shows on our national holidays are perfectly adequate, and if someone feels the need for a private one, then they can solicit the aid of a licensed and qualified pyrotechnician. The solicitation of dangerous explosives to the public is irresponsible and foolish, as well as being entirely unnecessary. And as for Article ten, I think it is obvious to most citizens that our nation’s ethnic and religious minorities do suffer discrimination in our society, especially in the area of employment. It is important that we take action to aid the oppressed and marginalized in advancing themselves in society. As it stands now, must minorities are blocked from higher places in society, not on the basis of intelligence our skill, but out of racial discrimination. Our vision for Sekowo is a nation in which uncontrollable factors such as birth will not limit a person’s potential. The Capitalist Party, it would seem, does not share this view, although I suppose it’s difficult for those who have inherited their wealth from their fathers and never had to work, to understand an issue such as this.” OCC: That last part was just meant as an insult. Whether or not it’s based on fact, I’m not pretending to know. |
