Bill: Anti-Coathanger Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: National Centrist Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2076

Description[?]:

I think this bill's name points out a major flaw with current abortion policies. Abortions will occur whether they are regulated or not; there is no proof that they will even occur less often.

Furthermore, an important point was made by the Liberal Party for Equality within the previous debate, that if someone wants an abortion and cannot get one, then not only will they be condemned to raise a child they didn't want, the child will be condemned to be unwanted.

MessageYes, and if I'd voted against it like I usually do, it wouldn't have passed.

You passed your law with a false majority.

MessageSpeaking of which, if the voting goes all exactly the same way plus my vote in favor, then it'll pass. Therefore, there is no point leaving it in debate.

CTP: Perhaps you should attempt to address the actual points brought up here and in the other bill's debate, instead of just pointing that out.

Messagenice rhyming. But that still causes huge amounts of grief on the part of both parent and child and furthermore puts a strain on the orphanage system.

Messagethen we can go back to the Naval proposal of putting the Boys in the navy and the girls become housemaids.
until they turn 20 when they can do what they want.

Of course they would be given a good education and Patronage.

MessageAlso, while the fetus is developing in the first trimester, medical research shows that the fetus fails to have the basic organs and elements to live with or without a machine upon being born early.

I think that this is fine given that SLP believes life begins when the fetus can survive with either the help of a machine or on its own.

We also believe that women ought to have the choice, and 3 months is enough time to make the choice.

I do wish that there was an option to allow abortion in the first trimester and for medical emergencies at any time (or if the child is developed enough; medically induced labour/c-section).

MessageSLP: There was quite a debate over that a while ago. The conclusion was, medical emergencies are an inferior (as in, less time, not as in less worth) option and are taken for granted in all term length options. This law would, if passed, allow abortion for any reason up to 3 months, and allow abortion at any time thereafter if the mother's life is in danger.
