Bill: National security - embassies
Details
Submitted by[?]: Leftsocialist Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2314
Description[?]:
The government should have a minimum of control over who and what kind of embassies are set up. After all when embassies are set up they are legally the territory of a foreign nation. With the current policy we are at risk of letting our guard down against rogue states and the like. |

Message | We have no border control for non governmental people, why should we limit who we have channels open to for governments? Embassies lead to diplomacy, which leads to non violent resolution of disbutes, which prevents wars. We should not move to close off talks with any nation not while there is still hope for peace. |

Message | I agree - but nevertheless when a foreign country opens an embassy it becomes their soil, a part of their country. If the bill passes we will simply have som control over which countries and under which conditions we hand over bits of our precious contry to. |
Date | 13:52:46, November 12, 2006 CET | From | Reform Democratic Party | To | Debating the National security - embassies |
Message | The Democratic party agrees the Protectorate Party more embassies leads to more diplomacy what we need. |
Date | 14:28:46, November 13, 2006 CET | From | Leftsocialist Party | To | Debating the National security - embassies |
Message | Just to be clear we are probably all for diplomacy. The leftsocialists just believe that we should exercise some control over our country - and seeing that the ground embassies is placed on becomes the soil of a foreign country it seems sensible that we should exercise our sovereignty. But seeing that there has been a long debate we will put it to a vote. |
