MessageSlavery is an actual threat to our nation and compulsory service is slavery.

If the greater mass of the people of this country love our nation so little that they must be forced to serve in its army at gunpoint, then perhaps the Trigunian Unionist Party should consider why the public have so little desire to protect their government.

MessageSlavery? Ha! I somehow doubt National Service is Slavery. Our people must be trained and ready to defend our homeland. Similarly this will help us if we ever need to intervene elsewhere.

MessageYep I'll call it slavery too.. Why should it be a must? I think a lot of people would like to do it for their country, but you always find some that don't like to do it. And it could be possible too that those people that are willing to do it, are not willing to do it because they have to, but only if they really feel like doing it.

MessageSlavery is defined as being under the control of, or the property of, another person. If someone can force you to work for him without your consent, that is slavery. Mandatory military (or any other) service is therefore slavery.

Also, it is very telling when you refer to needing conscripts in order to be able to intervene elsewhere. This really demonstrates why you want a slave army. Nobody would seriously claim that people in a country are so unwilling to protect themselves that they wouldn't defend themselves from attack. You only need to force people to fight when you want to make war on someone else. When the state wants to pursue imperialist adventures that benefit not the people but the rulers of the nation.

MessageIt simply provides training. National service doesnt have to be longer than a year or so.

MessageBut let us take a look at the other professions that are needed in our nation, this compulsory military service can be in the way. So that's another reason why I wanna cut that.

So if you have a major war, you are guaranteeing that no-one performing military service will be sent into battle? I don't see anything in the bill proposal that limits the states power to send people on military service to war. Please clarify.

"National service doesn't have to be longer than a year or so"

And what of it? How does a fixed term prevent national service from being slavery? If I own all rights over you for a year then you are clearly my slave for a year. If I can force you to do whatever I want, including send you to die, at my whim, then for that duration you are my slave.

Random fact: Particracy does not allow official national flags of real-life nations or flags which are very prominent and recognisable (eg. the flags of the European Union, the United Nations, Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union or the Confederate States of America).
