Bill: Vital Provisions Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Enlightened Socialist Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2080
Description[?]:
The ESP believes that, to prevent mass blackouts, food shortages and such problems, that whenever a private enterprise fails to provide and ESSENTIAL service that enterprise would be nationalised, either permanently or temporarily. The government, being not interested in making profit and actually desiring to provide the service, is far better to rebuild a service to a workable rate before privatising it again after it is rebuilt. Or, if it is considered better to keep it nationalised, then it shall be until such time as that decision is rescinded. |
Proposals
Article 1

Old value:: The government does not intervene in the market nor provide any form of subsidies/relief to industries.

Proposed: The government acts as an investor of last resort, by nationalizing failing industries that provide vital goods or services.

Message | Corporate failure is the result of corporate mismanagement. The rich should be responsible for their actions as well, even if it affects others. |

Message | And they are responsible, and are therefore being penalised by having their assets taken as detailed for use in rebuilding what they destroyed. Nobody rich deserves to be rich, but those that fail deserve even less so. |

Message | We strongly oppose. If those industries fail, it's because they have failed to adapt themselves to the real world. The LRU is for corporate and social darwinism, henceforth opposing this artificial bill. |
Date | 20:37:04, July 11, 2005 CET | From | Enlightened Socialist Party | To | Debating the Vital Provisions Act |
Message | And thus the people suffer and die at the altar of capitalism... the LRU is inconsistent and inhuman. |
Date | 12:13:09, July 12, 2005 CET | From | LCS Liberal Republican Union | To | Debating the Vital Provisions Act |
Message | No if we don't encourage systems as this one. The less the government intervenes, the more the market will prosper - more jobs available. Unemployment exists in Saridan because of the ESP and its mad, socialist policies. |
Date | 13:39:56, July 12, 2005 CET | From | Enlightened Socialist Party | To | Debating the Vital Provisions Act |
Message | Hardly... your idea of employment is slavery, with the workers handed down a penny whilst their masters toast champagne and drive around in Rolls Royce cars. Is that fair? No, it most certainly is not! And what are people to do when these corporations fall as they should? They will freeze or starve to death because CAPITALISM FAILS AS USUAL. We must prevent this terrible fate! |
Date | 13:54:18, July 12, 2005 CET | From | Commercial Freedom | To | Debating the Vital Provisions Act |
Message | We agree strongly, the government should be allowed to invest if it's for the good of the nation. |
