Bill: Complete Control of Industry
Details
Submitted by[?]: HSP (Hobrazian Socialist Party)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2319
Description[?]:
This bill puts the people in complete control of all industries. Article 1: This raises the taxation of corporations to 100%. This is only logical, since all industries are run by the state - the question must be asked, at the current rate of 25% - where does the other 75% go? Money needed for the payment of wages for administrators and executives and investment in the companies will thus become a government expense. Article 2: Restores this most basic of commodities to the public, and not to some corporation held on a leash that controls this most basic of commodities. Article 3: This raises taxation on luxury goods, manipulating the demand and thus concentrating industries on manufacturing and providing non-luxury goods to our citizens. This also aims to help pay for article 4. Article 4: This ensures the basic right of telephony to all citizens. |

Message | This would be extremely harmful to our economy for the following reasons: 1. Not all industry is owned by the State, and even if it were raising the tax on those industries to 100% would be foolhardy as there is no guarantee that any money would be put back into said industry to maintain it, the government has more pressing issues than dealing with the day-to-day operations of Fred Blog's biscuit factory. 2. Nationalising the energy companies helps consumers, how? We reduce the number of people in employment by closing down the number of businesses, brilliant, that'll really help the workers... 3. We want people to be able to afford goods that will improve their lives and make them more comfortable, not make it only so the rich can afford them. Are you sure you're socialist and not some group trying to make it so that only the aristocracy can afford the "nice things in life"? 4. You do realise how much telephone lines cost to maintain? Making them free for all would cost private busines, or the State, billions each year, money which could be so much better spent. |

Message | As regards WSS!P's concern on article 1 - Fred Blogs buisness factory could continue to be operated by administrators who are employed by the state on a salary rather than as shareholders. |
