Bill: Ultimate Crime Deterrent
Details
Submitted by[?]: Vast Right Wing Conspiracy Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 2078
Description[?]:
Malivia needs the authority to erradicate terrorists and those treasonous against her. At the same time, why not raise a little money for the country? We propose bringing back public executions and showing them on "pay per view" television channels. It would be a great way to scare the kids onto the straight-and-narrow while picking up a few extra dollars for the government to spend. |

Message | The problem with the DP is that the system is fallible. You can release a person from jail, but not from a grave. |

Message | Provided the EM party member who proposed this is the first on the list. The SRP has a valid point which must be considered before we think of ratings. |

Message | Let me get this straight. One innocent person potentially, yet improbably, executed is more important than establishing a deterrent that could save tens of thousands of lives from terrorist threats or from treasonous scallywags? If this one potential innocent person is so important, why not repeal abortion? |

Message | Because (apart from obviously being totally immoral) it's completely ineffective as a deterrent. As for abortion, a foetus isn't a person. |

Message | The death penalty is not "obviously immoral". It is perfectly legitimate to take an eye for an eye. How is it ineffective as a deterrent? As for abortion, science has not proven when life begins. Therefore, you do not know if the fetus is a living being or not. Just like your argument against the death penalty, why take the chance you are killing an innocent baby? |

Message | well the fact that in other countries where they hae the death penalty there is no change in the level of crimes that can incur the death penalty. not that we have made our formal decision on the matter yet. |

Message | We don't HAVE to put it on pay-per-view, if that makes anybody more inclined to vote yes. |
