Description[?]:

There can only be two motives behind universal conscription. One, the nation is under attack, or dire threat thereof. Two, the government thinks it can 'fix' unruly teens by means of a stint in the army. In our case, the first is certainly untrue. In the case of the second, it is the height of hypocrisy to sit in one's armchair and dictate what is and is not acceptable behaviour and how said behaviour should or should not be fixed. Pray tell, does one typically enjoy being told one's faults and thereafter how to remedy them? I should say not. Behaviour is a personal matter that is a personal choice. It is not a crime to be unpatriotic, etc., if that is a cause for the current state of conscription in this country. Rather, an enforced or put-upon service ethos is quite often worse than opposition to the established government. Observe its results in Eric Blair (pseudonym George Orwell), who took his fake service ethos and became one of the chief critics of Empire. It should be beyond the bounds of government scope-nay, human rights violation-to legislate behaviour. Will next you legislate what is or is not permissable to think? Say? Apparently it is already legislated what one may not do, even that which is inside the common bounds of the law. So, please, the Conservative and Unionist Party seeks support on this issue.

MessageNational service will teach valuable lessons to our youth. Lessons such as teamwork, community pride and self sacrifice. It will also instils a set of values that if not 'patriotic' at least a measure of community spirit.

It is a great equaliser, it allows you to develop trust in the individual who stands beside you and rewards excellence. No matter what social demographic you are from, you will have the chance to progress on your own merits.

We feel any society is indeed a two-way contract and that there are certain appropriate times for people to give to the larger community. National service is an appropriate gift to the people of Telamon.

MessageWhat I am saying is that I think it is wrong for you to decide for parents and children what is 'right' for them. I believe that it is a human rights violation and a facet of fascism, for which you are known.
