Bill: State Employees' Pension Scheme

Details

Submitted by[?]: Edelweiss Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2083

Description[?]:

Again we would like to bring this issue forward.

Pension is a delicate subject and we think in order to maintain a social Likatonia, this proposal would be very helpful.

Everyone deserves a decent payment when they retire, leaving that decission in the hands of the individual could lead afterwards to financial problems.

By taking over/or creating a national and equal state employees' pension scheme. That is a system where every Likaton citizen will be obligated to join from the moment they run in to the labour market - Every Likaton citizen will have a decent and equal payment when they retire.

A-side, people who would like to have an extra 'for a rainy day', have the possibility to take a private pension plan-option.

Message.... I think my vision needs to be checked because that wasn't the most favourable thing to read right now.

I understand what you're trying to say, but you did it in a very round-about manner.

I see why a public one may be good, but the current system ensures that everyone has their own.

MessageOf course everyone needs a good amount to retire...thats why we should stick with the market..

Govt pension schemes have returned 0.65% (social security) in real terms on the investment whereas the market has returned 6%. At that rate an investment in market doubles every 12 years, whereas a govt run fund doubles only every 70 years. With no additional investment, a sum of $4000 would grow nearly four times in 44 years period (from 20yrs to 64) as compared to govt, which would not even double in that amount of time..

So if you really care about pensioners and retirees, you would stick to the market system.

MessageThis is at the market rate- which means just buying an index fund every year could help you beat the govt, without taking much additional risk...stockmarkets always rise over a long time period.

MessageThe CTP summarily denounces any compulsory pension system. A person should be able to save his money by his ownself if he wishes.

MessageSLP: Thank you for your sarcastic comment, consider every proposal I did in direction of your party as negative.
---------------------------------
The liberal system as it is now gives an large advantage to people with an overall bigger wage. A compulsory system reduces that difference and ensures that even minimum wage workes have a decent superannuation scheme. A free market can not garantee that every single person/worker is an active pension contributor.

MessageIt is already forcing people to contribute money...the only thing your proposal will do is force them to accept a lower rate on their investment...

Do you know that everyone in America could retire a millionaire? Few ever do, because people aren't disciplined enough to look beyond short term losses. But that doesn't mean we should punish them by reducing how much they retire with.

MessageI think that the market system should be left as is, and maybe with a security net in the event of a recession or depression to prevent investments from losing value.

Messageyou haven't really argued your case, and are using brute force to settle this. Fine, we will do the same to all your bills whenever we are in your position.
