MessageEach person in Malivia is equally important in the elections, regardless of where they live. Why should we give a person 50% more value based on where they live?

MessageInteresting idea. However, with the current system, the Electric Mayhem keeps gaining seats. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

MessageSmall regions have a significant advantage as it is. There's no need to give them more - if anything we should be moving in the opposite direction: one person, one vote.

MessageWhy should we allow the cities to control the rural areas. The cities have the population, yet have a different priority system then the rural areas. The result is the rural areas get controlled by the cities, and must adopt to their views.

MessageThis bill doesn't actually address the rural/urban divide though, does it? Smaller provinces aren't necessarily more rural. But in any case, for issues that affect everyone, one person one vote should be the rule.

Messageyou call it cities dominating the rural. i see it as the majority rule.
you call it cities and rural being equal, i see it as the minority getting an advantage over the majority.

Messageone person one vote SOUNDS good at first. but look at it practically. politicians only have to cater to the top 10 major markets to get elected. you wouldn't even have to visit most areas of malivia because they were rural, therefore lightly populated, therefore they have fewer votes. why would a politician spend any time in the rural areas when all the votes are in the big cities?

MessageThe point made by the EM is what we are trying to address. Since the voters are concentrated in the cities that is where the parties will concentrate their efforts. Though the LibCom is correct in that the bill is not a perfect method of addressing this issue it is the best we have available under our constitution. We do not like to see the majority overriding the rights of the miority in such a blatant fashion. Rather then purely by population we should look at different methods of distributing votes.
