This press message was released by the Government of the Telamon Commonwealth.
On behalf of the government of the Telamon Commonwealth I would like to condemn this appalling attack by the YRNS upon the Gaduri embassy in Alduria and I would like to extend our condolences to the families of the victims and to the government of Gaduridos.
We are taking measures to increase security at our embassy in Alduria and our advising Telamonian citizens to observe caution when travelling there.
However, we are also concerned at what appears to be a disproportionate response from the Federal Union of Gaduridos and would urge restraint. We would remind people that the NSP whilst the largest party in Alduria, in no way constitutes any part of the government of that nation and that other parties are taking steps to try to deal with the NSP, which we applaud.
We echo calls from the Gaduri government to bring those responsible for the attack to justice but we question the merit of punishing an entire nation through the severing of diplomatic ties and imposition of a trade ban for the actions of a fanatical few who are not even in any real sense in a position of power and are certainly not part of the government or a majority of Alduria.
Finally, I would like to state that whilst again we call for those responsible to be brought to justice and for the punishment of the NSP and whilst we condemn fascism and totalitarianism in all its forms, we cannot echo calls for the banning of the NSP. They must, like everyone else, be allowed to exercise their democratic rights to organise as a political party, however it is up to the rest of us to not give them a platform from which to spout their ideas of hate and to challenge their ideology and when they overstep the boundaries then it is up to us to prosecute them. We have full confidence that the people of Alduria are not fascists and that they will remove the NSP from any possible position of authority at the next election.
Charles Grey
Foreign Minister
