Progressive Conservative Party (PCP) presidential nominee Luis Rubio has been campaigning all over the country in hopes of swaying undecided voters to support his candidacy.
Rubio struggled at first to gain footing in the polls as President Rodrguez (APP) is widely popular across the country due to the accomplishments of the APP-PCP coalition.
However, Rubio has recently seen his standing in the polls increase. He has received an outpouring of support from religious, socially conservative voters upset over APP opposition to PCP sponsored laws prohibiting second trimester abortions and ending the recognition of polygamous marriage.
Rubio has also likely received a polling boost from the endorsement of Prime Minister Burret (PCP), who has appeared with Rubio at a number of campaign events. Burret is widely popular across the country as he is seen as a primary architect of the APP-PCP coalition agenda of the previous term.
Still, even as polls tighten, many PCP party insiders seem pessimistic about their chances to take the presidency. One anonymous staffer criticized Rubio as a flawed candidate. Another claimed that President Rodriguez is simply "too popular to take down."Signed,
