Description[?]:

Founded nearly 300 years ago under the old Hemmingway dynasty that existed before the influx of Asli into Talmoria, the Talmorian Liberty Party was formed as a coalition of the intellectual elite, upper-middle class, and civil libertarian voters united for the purpose of ultimately abolishing the monarchy. After several elections of a largely inactive and incapable parliament, the Talmorian Liberty Party was lost to history and ultimately was weakened and abandoned by supporters after several inconclusive elections.

In the present day, it was only by chance that a college student and son of wealthy business owner James Alexander found the historical chronicle of the Liberty Party's brief run in old Talmoria and brought what may have been the last legacy of their existence home to show his father. James Alexander was a white migrant to Talmoria, coming with the rest of the Afrikaaner-speaking Talmorians who had come before. Throughout the wars of conflict, Alexander had been an advocate for peace and conciliation between the nations in the area and an advocate for unity between white settlers and the native Asli and other groups. Alexander had been aghast at the apartheid politics that had accompanied the creation of the Republiek van Suid-Talmoria. After over a decade under apartheid, Alexander saw the Liberty Party banner as a way to unite disenfranchised Asli and sympathetic whites along with other races under a set of somewhat common ideals held between them. Pooling resources with his long-time friend, prominent Asli intellectual Hassan Kouri, Alexander kick-started the formation of the Vryheid Alliansie van Talmoria, the Liberty Alliance. After years of work in bringing the organization to fruition, the Alliansise fielded candidates in all 75 districts of Talmoria and in a stunning upset won the legislature by a 39-36 margin, with Alexander himself running for and winning the election for Staatspresident van die Republiek.

The Vryheid Alliansie van Talmoria is a party composed largely of the native Asli of Talmoria, sympathetic and well-educated whites, libertarians, and advocates for local affairs. The party ran on and accomplished the end of Talmorian apartheid and has continued to sponsor legislation to tear down legal discrimination against Asli and other races and to remove race quotas and other similar measures from practice and implementing policies of multilingualism. As part of its platform for local control, it has proposed expanding the Volksraad to 200 members and shortening member terms to 4 years.

Random fact: In cases where a party has no seat, the default presumption should be that the party is able to contribute to debates in the legislature due to one of its members winning a seat at a by-election. However, players may collectively improvise arrangements of their own to provide a satisfying explanation for how parties with no seats in the legislature can speak and vote there.

Random quote: "There is only one difference between dictatorship and democracy. In democracy, you vote and then take orders; in dictatorship you don't waste time voting." - Joseph Stalin
