Description[?]:
The Union of Kundrati Minorities (UKM) Founded in 5212 to ensure the protection of rights of cultural, religious and ethnic minorities. The party supports decentralisation in order to ensure that regional cultures have the right to govern themselves. Most members of the party are also on the left side of the political spectrum and support an interventionist economy. The party was formed by a merger of various fringe regional parties during an alarming period of rise of the right wing and CLP decline. The party used to be divided into many cliques based on the former parties which later reorganized into two major wings - The Moderate Wing and the Socialist Wing. During the second term of the coalition called the United Left of the Kundrati Union being in power, the dominant Socialist wing supported increasingly radical policies which lead the party to be split in two. The party reunited a few years after the civil war due to a severe weakening of the left wing and the rise of the multiple right wing parties. Moderate Wing - Founded by the brothers Aurelio and Andoni Igueta, the founders of the UKM (former leaders of the Extean Labour Party). The wing is primarily composed of moderate left members of the party and was the dominant wing of the party in its early years. The wing regained dominance during the civil war due to many prominent UKM-Socialist leaders being killed. Socialist Wing - The dominant wing of the party at the time of the split, founded and initially lead by the sisters Nikolasa and Emili Careta (former leaders of the Jildrath People's Party). They see themselves as the spiritual successors of the SLP's legacy and aim to restore the era of socialist dominance in Kundrati politics, for this purpose the ULK, a coalition of leftist parties, was formed which succeeded on gaining power. But increasing radicalism lead to the moderates seceding from the the party. Following the military coup the Careta sisters were arrested and executed, alongside many other UKM-S leaders. The surviving leaders had to go into hiding for a year. They were then lead by Nikole Bolloqui and Barna Katalin, the only two UKM-S cabinet ministers who survived the Junta's purge, until they retired from politics. Centrist Wing - Despite being historically left leaning, UKM is not united by leftism, and the centrists aim to prove that. A broad wing consisting of anyone from market liberals to social conservatives, they represent the non left leaning elements of the party. They want to move the party's focus away from leftism and focus more on civil liberties and federalism. So far they've been nothing more than a vocal minority in the party due to the UKM's two major founding parties being leftist, however times are changing in Kundrati and the current wave of rising right wing popularity might be the opportunity they've been looking for to prove once and for all that UKM isn't a party of economic ideology but a party of and for minorities first and foremost. Extremist Wing - Almost every movement has firebrands and extremists and UKM is no exception. The extremist wing of the party consists primarily of Extean radical nationalists, who believe that achieving true equality is not a possibility under the Kundrati Initially fringe, they first gained some prominence during the UKM split during which they sided with UKM-M, a decision which saved them from being targeted by the Junta's purge once war broke out. They advocate for Extean independence, supposedly via parliamentary means, however many suspect that they merely participate in the Kundrati democracy to gain more supporters and wider outreach. A suspicion strengthened in the Second Kundrati Civil War when they spearheaded the formation of a party militia. While the militia was officially disbanded at the end of the war, there were some weapons unaccounted for, supposedly lost in the chaos of the war. The wing began fading into relative obscurity again after the UKM reunion until a wave of major right wing parties rose up. The paranoia generated by xenophobic parties gaining the presidency proved to be just the environment the extremists needed to cement themselves as a permanent part of the party politics.
