The Minarchist Party asserts that the individual is sovereign. The legitimate role of the state is to protect its citizens and their property from crime and external aggression to the extent that they are unable to provide such protection themselves. The fundamental principle of minarchism is voluntarism which means that nobody should be coerced into anything other than obeying the law. Violence must never be used except in self defence. |
