Description[?]:
First and foremost, the Technocratic Democracy Faction (FTD) believes in direct-democratic rule of the government by the people, with politicians merely serving as an advisory board to process petitions for legislative change and government action, as well as draft the bills to be voted upon by the populous. The FTD believes that those holding political office should be allowed to propose limited legislation or action, but only in cases of extreme emergencies. For this reason, the party also believes that there should be very strict control over who can run for public office to those who are most qualified to be experts in fields that each sitting member would represent, with requirements becoming more stringent as you travel further up the federal chain. To ensure that this is not an elitist oligarchical or aristocratic hierarchy, the FTD's platform proposes strong measures to ensure the availability of educational opportunities, economic equitable distribution, and highly controlled election funding to provide visibility to anyone wishing to run for office. Many of the founding members of the faction were those who had at least some socialist and Marxist leanings from other small or defunct Kalopian political parties, with the current Federal High Proxy Chairman, Corinthian Rallis, claiming to be "... a global communist first, a Kalopian FTD member second." Historically, the party has aligned itself with far left parties, but has shown a willingness to join with any legislative entity that supports popular legislation. Such alliances are determined by frequent polls with far reaching sample sizes for greatest accuracy, which are carried out by the FTD itself. However, what is often said to be the most controversial tenet of the party's platform is a belief in the inherent good of institutionalizing eugenics, which is the belief that society can scientifically improve the desirable traits of its population through controlled breeding. Spokesmen from the FTD claim that, unlike many political organizations that have proposed implementing eugenics in the past, they do not believe that positive genetic qualities can be tied to race or nationality and that all people have some positive contribution they can make to the population. As Elek Frangos once put it, "We all come from the same place and we've all evolved positive attributes to get to this point. We at the FTD just wish to see the legacy of that evolution carried on. As we overcome the hazards of the natural world, we must implement our own means of promoting positive genetic traits." How this would be done is frequently debated, but what most often is suggested is semi-permanent birth-control, birth limitations between couples based on mental and physical test scores, and incentivizing fertile females and males to artificially inseminate with donations given by those who score very highly on those same tests. It is yet to be seen if such extreme beliefs could become law, but the FTD is positive that the people will approve of such measures eventually. Other important issues that are promoted by the party are strong environmental protections, renewable energy projects, scientific process, centralized planning, aggressive push to invest in space exploration, deep sea research, cloning research, compulsive military service, cultural discipline, confederated power structure, protected commonsense gun ownership, common ground humanist/spiritual/religious morality, international cooperation, equality amongst the genders, LGBT rights, legal action to dissuade racial prejudice, federally funded healthcare, mutual and literal social contracts between citizen and government, and humanitarian aid. |
