Description[?]:
The Dariusian Separatists are a party dedicated to representing the sizable Dariusian minority scattered throughout the United Republic of Narikaton and Darnussia Following years of oppression and domination by their Darnussian compatriots and neighbours, the Dariusian minority are experiencing what many sociologists have begun referring to as the 'Dariusian Awakening'. A political and social renaissance characterised by the reassertion of Dariusian cultural identity after many centuries of assimilation and degradation. Officially forming in 2598 the party was formerly the political wing of the Dariusian Liberation Army (DLA), a freedom-fighting/paramilitary/terrorist group which advocates an independent homeland for the Dariusians to be achieved through armed struggle. The Separatists as they exist today are essentially the moderate faction of the DLA who in 2595 split from the organisation and formed a legitimate political party following a protracted debate within the DLA regarding the appropriate methodology for achieving statehood. Arta Pers, former leader of the armed wing the DLA and twice convicted on terrorism charges sought to persuade the more radical elements within the DLA to embrace parliamentary politics and to lay down their arms in exchange for pursuing a political settlement. The effort was ultimately unsuccessful but which cemented the Separatists as a pro-parliamentary non-violent force. |

Random fact: Any RP law granting extraordinary "emergency powers" or dictator-like powers to a government must be passed by at least a 2/3rds majority, but (like all RP laws) may always be overturned by a simple majority vote of the legislature. |
Random quote: "Perhaps the fact that we have seen millions voting themselves into complete dependence on a tyrant has made our generation understand that to choose one's government is not necessarily to secure freedom." - Friedrich Hayek |
