Description[?]:
BRIEF DESCRIPTION The UPC was founded to provide a voice and opportunity to those who do not agree with the extreme parties dominating the political field. This party respects and understands the many facets of the Left-Right dichotomy, but seeks to bridge the divide and create a society that can function off of the positive aspects of both ideologies. SPECIFIC POLICIES Role of Government: We believe that the federal government is neither good or bad. Local governments must work together with the federal government in order to do what is best for the citizens of Beluzia. The federal government is instrumental in protecting the overall well being of its citizens, however local governments will be more informed on their own populations and will better understand the ramifications of certain legislation. Government Spending/Taxation: The government has to be efficient and intelligent when funding certain projects. The governments job is to invest in its people and protect its citizens form internal and external threats. This requires extensive funding in Infrastructure, Education, R&D, and Defense. Taxes should be as efficient as possible. Taxes for the lower and middle class should be much less than that of the upper classes. We must maintain our middle class if we want to continue growing as a nation. Civil Liberties: All civil liberties must be respected, but to a certain effect. What we mean by this is if a certain liberty has direct short term or long term harms to a citizen of citizens around him/her, the the government should make sure that this liberty is in check and regulated for the general health and well being of the population. This should fall to the local governments. Civil liberties such as Abortion, Homosexual rights, etc... should be protected under the government, and any challenge to these intrinsic human rights will be faced with opposition from our party. Military/Foreign Policy: We believe that we should maintain a strong military as we are constantly facing external as well as internal threats. That being said, the use of unjustified war or combat is not condone. Unless we are attacked, war should not be our first resort. We must find diplomatic ways to settle our differences. Random fact: Did you know you can change the official name of your nation? All you need to do is draw up a new name that is in accordance with the Nation Renaming Guide, pass a bill proposing the name change with a two-thirds majority and then post a request to Moderation on the "Renaming Requests" thread. You can change city and region names in this way too. |
