Description[?]:
The Demokratische Partei (or Demokraten) is a political party in Volksrepublik Dorvik which places itself in the middle of the political spectrum. It was formed in Oppenbruck, in the Miktar region of the country, and the parties headquarters are now in Kreisefels (also in Miktar). This close relationship with the region has been maintained and in successive elections Miktar has been the region where the party has enjoyed the best results. The party was founded by Sebastien Mueller, and due to his untimely death in November 3193, is now led by Miroslav Pfeizzer. The Party is made up of 3 separate factions, the Left Demokraten, who advocate a more socialist minded approach, the Centre Demokraten, supporters of the so called "Third Way", and the Right Demokraten, who advocate a capitalist theory. Traditionally, the LD and CD have been the instrumental factions, however, after Mueller's death, the LD fell away somewhat and the RD grew slightly. However, The CD are still the massive force in the party (full figures below): LD = 12% CD = 79% RD = 9% The parties ideology has a number of diffferent facets which are listed here: - a secular society with room for religion to prosper alongside atheism. - extreme environmentalism - pacifism, we oppose the entrance of Dorvik into any war unless we have been attacked. - The so-called "Third-Way" approach to the economy.. The party's best election years to date were in the 3190's to the 3200's, when the party were consistantly one of the leading parties in the Volkskammar. In 3202, the party finally had aits candidate elected president, with Karolina Weiskopf elected. Other than this however, the party was traditionally the 3rd or 4th largest party, however, this did not mean that it did not enjoy it's share of power. The party wasinvolved in a number of coalitions, usually combined with the Volkspartei over the years. Party Leaders: 3167 - 3193 - Sebastien Mueller 3194 - Sept. 3199 - Miroslav Pfeizzer Sept. 3199 - March 3215 - Karolina Weiskopf (president from 3202 - 3205) March 3215 - present - Mathiass Ehrhardt |

Random quote: "To the youth of America, I say, beware of being trivialized by the commercial culture that tempts you daily. I hear you saying often that you're not turned on by politics. The lessons of history are clear and portentous. If you do not turn onto politics, politics will turn on you." - Ralph Nader |
