The Democratic Monarchist Party is a broad tent left wing party, consisting of liberals and social democrats. The main unifying position of the party is their support of monarchism, believing that the head of state should be above partisan politics. In addition, the party supports progressive tax reform, civil rights expansion, moderate interventionism, free trade, and a humanitarian foreign policy. Because of their monarchism, the DMP gives the Party President the role of presidential candidate, with his job being to ensure a smooth transition of the head of state. However, all policy making would be done by the highest ranking figure in the legislature.
