Description[?]:
General Beliefs: The Kalistani Democratic Party is a political party that originated along the sunny coasts of Suldanor; founded by those dissatisfied with the current political climate, the KDP has presented itself as the new voice (and currently only) of the centre-right in Kalistan. Simply put, the KDP stands for prosperity through the effective use of limited government, peace through active diplomatic means, security through adequate funding for Kalistan’s military, and an emphasis on restoring and advocating policies of moral rectitude. The foremost priority of the KDP is the representation of the until-now silent masses of conservative Kalistanis. Brief History of the KDP: The KDP was founded in 3384 by a national committee of various businessmen, conservative activists, and church leaders with the strict goal of bringing to the fore issues unaddressed or actively fought-against by other parties in Kalistan, specifically from the right-of-centre point of view. This committee, led by Alex Rhodes, drafted the first manifesto of the party as well as the party’s governing documents. Issues ranging from curbing the drive towards nationalization of industry, advocating conservative moral stances, fighting for a more robust military, and freeing markets of burdensome regulation. Party Manifesto: The Kalistani Democratic Party has adopted the following political platform: 1.) Profit is the driving force of innovation that leads nations towards prosperity for all; as such, we advocate effective measures to deregulate industries and business across Kalistan. Regulation ought to be a product of the market, not bureaucrats. 2.) Bloated by government mishandling, social services and utilities must undergo extensive restructuring and reform; in order to protect hard-fought gains, the KDP will audit programs to make sure programs work for all. 3.) Democracy entails the protection of certain inalienable rights proffered to its peoples; the KDP wishes to secure these political freedoms and civil liberties for as long as our republic stands. These freedoms cannot be protected by foreign actors and must be guaranteed constitutional and legally by the national government of Kalistan. 4.) A pragmatic diplomatic program that seeks to ensure security with Kalistan’s neighbors, promote peace, and project smart power abroad with concern to possible international threats. 5.) Cooperation with the coalition government will only be made at the behest of the people, to protect national security, or advance the conservative cause. 6.) The KDP seeks new and fair methods of taxation - we will seek to implement either a national flat income tax for all income levels or more equitable (albeit progressive) tax brackets. 7.) Nationalization of industry in Kalistan must be halted or reversed at all levels; government cannot be granted the power to do such. Programs of this nature have proved failures elsewhere and cannot be allowed to cause the failure of business and industry at home. 8.) The KDP supports a citizen’s rights to make decisions regarding their health and concerning their body. 9.) New and practical methods of reducing carbon-emissions and protecting our environment through market-based programs that foster competition to guarantee a safe, healthy environment for our children. 10.) The basis of our national conscience is our deep, shared faith and the belief that through it communities are strengthened, families grown, and individuals enlightened. It is with this knowledge that the KDP advocates an easing of heightened tensions between our government and our religious communities. Enact reforms that acknowledge and celebrate our religious diversity, with the understanding that no one faith can reign from the seat of government. 11.) Resolve disputes between management and labour based on what best suits the people and the national interest and base policy on what leads to greatest prosperity. 12.) A reformed welfare system that truly benefits the most vulnerable in society without giving advantage to those that simply do not deserve the aid of the state; the KDP advocates fundamental changes in the makeup of welfare programs in Kalistan. Capitalism and its unmatched productive capability will serve the nation best and welfare policy should neither threaten nor stifle the prime mechanisms of the system. |

Random fact: Particracy allows you to establish an unelected head of state like a monarch or a president-for-life, but doing this is a bit of a process. First elect a candidate with the name "." to the Head of State position. Then change your law on the "Structure of the executive branch" to "The head of state is hereditary and symbolic; the head of government chairs the cabinet" and change the "formal title of the head of state" to how you want the new head of state's title and name to appear (eg. King Percy XVI). |
Random quote: "No one today can afford to be innocent, or indulge himself in ignorance of contemporary governments, politics and social orders. The national polities of the modern world maintain their existence by deliberately fostered craving and fear: monstrous protection rackets. The 'free world' has become economically dependent on a fantastic system of stimulation of greed which cannot be fulfilled, sexual desire which cannot be satiated and hatred which has no outlet except against oneself, the persons one is supposed to love, or the revolutionary aspirations of pitiful, poverty-stricken marginal societies like Cuba or Vietnam. The conditions of the Cold War have turned all modern societies - communist included - into vicious distorters of man's true potential." - Gary Snyder |
