MessageThe LPI shall support this reform. Safety testing to ensure humans do not suffer harm is a vital component of product development.

MessageWith the appropriate laws to prevent cruelty, cosmetics research on animals should be allowed. An animal is less likely to be seriously harmed by a cosmetic product than a drug, and we allow those with regulation. Likewise, nuclear weapons should be prohibited, but nuclear technology has many peaceful uses and the government should support its research.

MessageHow many dogs wear lipstick then? This is total lunacy, most cosmetics have been tested already and there is very little nowdays that would need to be tested and could be tested on humans without damage to them. I'm sure a director would put his mouth where his money is so to speak. Anyway neither proposal has any relavence to each other so we reject out of laziness of FIND.

MessageIf there are any parties which would support one provision but not the other, we will separate them. Please inform us if that is the case.

From National Conservative Party
ToDebating the Scientific Freedom and Oversight Act
MessageThe NCP sees no connection between these two proposals and will vote against on principle of them being coupled together.

From Iqembu Sokusebenzisana Yeningi
ToDebating the Scientific Freedom and Oversight Act
MessageWe are surprised at this response from a party that put a subsidy for contraception in the same bill with the lifting of an abortion ban. Both provisions lift bans on specific kinds of research.

In any case, we have removed Article 2. If there is support for the legalization of nuclear research, we will propose a separate bill.

Date09:12:50, February 11, 2007 CET
From New Democratic Party
ToDebating the Scientific Freedom and Oversight Act
MessageThe dubious scientific value of cosmetics testing aside, I doubt animal testing is a necessity. Surely this is not the only way that chemists are going to know if a chemical is corrosive or poisonous?

From Absolutist Party
ToDebating the Scientific Freedom and Oversight Act
MessageNo, we feel cosmetics should be tested on inmates.

Random fact: When you join the game, you will find yourself with only zero seats. That's because your party's representatives haven't been elected yet. You need to establish your party's position on issues by proposing several bills that your party wants passed and sending them to vote. This raises your visibility and if you do it enough, you will win seats at the next election.
