Bill: Glorification of the Holy City of New Salem Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Covenanters (IA)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2360

Description[?]:

Now that our crusaders have established the Holy City of New Salem in the once heathen occupied Holy Land, we feel the Holy Empire should celebrate with a new national anthem about this Holy City, and to make it the capital of our great Holy Empire.

And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon Luthori's mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On Luthori's pleasant pastures seen?
And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was New Salem builded here
Among those dark satanic mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!
I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
Till we have built New Salem
In Luthori's green and pleasant land.

MessageLiore is hardly the traditional capital of Luthori. Oalapo was the traditional capital, as Utagia was the nt country prior to unification, then we had the purpose-built Sondavita (in no Prebytery but on the borders of Geharon, Tinako and Agathion. During the Theocracy we moved to capital to Yodukan but then it was moved again to Liore (in Agathion: more of a mudskin colony than a "Home Nation"), for reasons unknown and unexplained at the time. Having driven the Majatran hordes out of the Holy City it is only right that we now make it our capital. Consider Liore a staging post in the Crusade to liberate New Salem.

MessageI'm thinking mostly of security. Wouldn't this be a better idea when we've pacified the area fully?

MessageWho else would supprt a return to the traditional capital of Oalapo? Also: who would support the new national anthem if it wasn't proposed alongside a change of capital?

MessageWe'd certainly support it at some point. We're just not sure now is the time. No problem with the proposed anthem however. We think it's rather catchy. The kind of thing tradesmen can whistle as they go about their merry business.

Random fact: Particracy does not allow role-play that seems to belong to the world of fantasy, science fiction and futuristic speculation.

Random quote: "Conservative, n: A statesman who is enamored of existing evils, as distinguished from the Liberal who wishes to replace them with others." - Ambrose Bierce
