Bill: Anti smoke bill
Details
Submitted by[?]: Socialist Workers Union
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2364
Description[?]:
We feel that the current laws on smoking are bad for the health of workers and for the people that do not smoke, as the law stands a place that serves alcohol must allow a smoker to smoke if he so wishes to, regardless of what he or the other customers feel, this includes pubs and resturants. If the manager wishes to throw out the smoker then they might be sued. This is not an ideal situation. We propose a simple and clear bill for this. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government policy towards smoking.
Old value:: Smoking is legal outdoors and in private homes and clubs, but illegal indoors in all places of employment.
Current: Smoking is only allowed in private homes and clubs.
Proposed: Smoking is only allowed in private homes and clubs.

Message | We are somewhat perplexed by the SWU's misstatement of the current law. There is nothing requiring private clubs to allow smoking. They are simply permitted to do so. |

Message | The LPI does not find this misstatement at all surprising. |
