Bill: Trade Union Reforms
Details
Submitted by[?]: Socialist Workers Union
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2368
Description[?]:
We would like to introduce reforms that will help workers and employers. We would like to make Trade Union membership compulsory but to make it on a want to pay basis so that workers will not be forced to pay for membership but can make a donation if they wish to. We know that some parties will say this is a breach of civil liberties but we know that the only arguement against this is that it annoys the private companies as they have less power. We also want to repeal the current strike act, as we feel as a trade union that vital members of the industry like nurses, doctors, train drivers, etc, should offer a minimal workforce on a strike to make sure that the country works well and keeps everyone on the side of the workers. |

Message | The LPI will always say no to fascism and corporatism. We urge all parties to vote against this fascistic legislation. |

Message | We support the second article of this proposal, as for example employed doctors have the responsibility to keep the health care system running even if they are on strike. But mandatory union membership is a massive attack on personal liberties. if the unions do a good job, which we hope they do, then workers will come by their free choice. and if someone does not want to be a member because of whatever reason then this is that persons right. |

Message | Could be the voices in my head I guess. Or the elimination of freedom of choice, or the potential to abuse what is considered "critical to society" |
