Message | By our statisticians' calculations, this would still leave us with an over 5 billion IKD surplus, even before factoring in the economic boost from increased purchasing power for the lower and middle classes. It's a win-win bill that is long overdue. |

Message | The following numbers are based on a static evolution (which is offcourse impossible, but indicative). These figures don't include possible increasement of the purchasing power. MUP/PET proposal: 13% = 84,8 billion IKD 10% = 65,3 billion IKD result = -19,3 billion IKD current surplus = 25,0 billion IKD result = 5,7 billion IKD ------ We of the Ikradonian Interest however believe that a social taxcut is better. Cutting down on luxury tax ain't aiding the majority of low incomes, most of their money ain't going to luxury anyway. If we really want to help the lower and middle class we should drop the taxrate on the low income. if we reduce the incometax for >30k IKD from 30% to 27%, we have the following situation: II proposal: 30% = 205,2 billion IKD 27% = 184,7 billion IKD result = -20,5 billion IKD current surplus = 25,0 billion IKD result = 4,5 billion IKD This will increase the overal purchasing power of the low and middle class, it will enable them to buy the things they really want, which aren't necessary luxury goods. |

Message | Further we fail to see the logic in this: simple, easy to calculate amount, thus boosting economic creativity and productivity 1) We didn't know creativity depended on 0-figures, we believe creativity to be far more complex? 2) We didn't know productivity depended on 0-figures, we believe the main factor to be demand? |

Message | Creativity and productivity will increase because the sales tax is cut? Now that's just being a little silly. |

Message | The Ikradonian Interest may misunderstand the tax system. There is no tax on income below 30,000 IKD. Further, it is clear that tax cuts do boost economic growth and productivity. The simp[licity argument is a separate though parallel one. The fact is that this tax is the only national one those earning below 30,000 must pay andthat it is unrealistic to expect that they will purchase only necessities. |

Message | We acknowledge our misinterpretation. |

Message | Tax cuts provide only a temporary boost, mainly through consumption. Moreover they are not a sustainable or viable option since you can't just keep on cutting taxes, and who wants to be the one to bring them up again? Worse, if government services, especially health or education, are impacted, we could be putting ourselves into long-term trouble for some illusory short-term gain. |
Date | 04:56:48, March 30, 2007 CET | From | Iqembu Sokusebenzisana Yeningi | To | Debating the Economic Creativity and Sales Tax Relief Act (ECSTRA Act) |
Message | We are not proposing cuts in government services. The decrease in revenue is less than the current surplus. |

Random fact: When it comes to creating a Cultural Protocol in a Culturally Open nation, players are not necessarily required to provide a plausible backstory for how the nation's cultural background developed. However, the provision of a plausible backstory may be a factor in whether Moderation approves the Cultural Protocol if players in surrounding nations question its appropriateness for their region of the game map. |
