Bill: Eminent Domain Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Progressive Democratic Alliance
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 2087
Description[?]:
Eminent Domain gives the right to the government to seize the private property of a person living on a land in order for public works or even sometimes for corporations, depending on the country you are in. As thus it infringes on the right of a citizen to shelter and to property. There are two solutions we propose, either end eminent domain or give the citizen an equal, just and preliminary compensation before using eminent domain. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Eminent domain compensation (if eminent domain is legal).
Old value:: The government does not compensate victims of eminent domain.
Current: The government determines compensation for victims of eminent domain; victims can sue if they deem it unfair.
Proposed: The victim of eminent domain sets compensation, government can appeal to the courts if they deem the cost too high.

Message | I would say the second one, though is there not a compromise where the government sets compensation and then the victim can appeal if its not enough? I think that'd be the best one. |

Message | Well if the government has a problem with the compensation proposed by the victim, it is taken to court and settled there by a concensus and compromise. Makes sense, doesn't it? |
