Bill: The Smoking Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: Chinkopodian Economic Democrats

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2087

Description[?]:

If one is to ban cannabis, one should, by the same principles, also ban smoking. Smoking can be far worse for the health than cannabis - seeing as there's no evidence that cannabis has any lasting malicious effects. I do not propose this bill because cannabis is banned, before you ask, but to avoid the flushing of money down the drain. People cry "My right to smoke!!!!111!!!!11!!!", however, when the right to smoke means that millions and millions of Darnussian Rupans are being wasted due to large numbers of smokers admitted to our already-clogged fully-nationalised health service (no thanks to commie). If smoking was banned it would improve everyone's health, stop money eing wasted, and what's more, you should have no problem with it seeing as you've already banned cannabis!

MessageYeeeaaaaaahhhh....but good luck getting on the good side of public opinion if you outlaw cigarettes. I'd like to do so, but it's kinda stupid to do so when we still have a chunky amount of smokers remaining.

MessageWell actually, I don't know whether or not this would badly affect public opinion (regardless, for me it can hardly get worse). In any RL nation, it would be greeted with a reception far from warm, but in Darnussia, judging by the way the game works and the green thing on the nation page, it may not be so bad......

Random fact: Don't put "the" as the first word in your party name, because when parties are referred to in news reports, their names are preceded with "the", e.g. the [Socialist Party] has lost.
