Message | This issue is not sufficiently clear that reasonable people cannot disagree. In such an instance, where there is not a clear consensus and there is no fundamental right in question, communities should be allowed to set their own standards. |
Date | 01:33:37, August 10, 2005 CET | From | LibCom Party | To | Debating the Recreational Drug Act |
Message | If we were to support this bill, it would have to be on condition that the legality of other recreational drugs remains a matter for local governments. The proposal doesn't make that clear, as it only mentions cannabis. |

Message | We are of the same position as LibCom on the matter of other drugs. Though we personally feel that what a person places in their body is their own business, we can see how communities can wish to prevent the use of some through their community. Cannabis is not a drug we consider a serious threat to the well being of a community thus we would support its legalization, however we do not feel that there is a true need to see its legalization. As such we would support either the current measure or the proposed provided it is ammended as recommended by the LibCom. |
