Bill: Bill for Mayoral Elections

Details

Submitted by[?]: 2ème PPPP

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2444

Description[?]:

The PPPP finds it ridiculous that "local governments" should determine how mayors are appointed. There's a possibility for cities to have hereditary leaders, and this is completely unacceptable.

MessageWe find this proposal anti-democratic, surely democracy is best served by the local inhabitants deciding for themselves how they want their mayors selected.

MessageAlso PPK, we have no way have allowing the people to decide the method of appointment that simply isn't an option - we have to allow them to elect they're own mayors. That is the most democratic thing we can do.

MessageIf this were the case then there would be no point in the game having the " Citizens elect their mayor directly in a local election." feature. Although method of appointment is decided by local government not all local governments will allow they're citizens to vote for their mayors and in this a democratic society we feel that we should firmly place the power with the people, ensuring that it is them who elect their mayors by a regional vote and not just at local government discretion.

MessageThe PPK is way over the edge here. It is ludicrous to allow a rogue local government to start appointing mayors in any way besides direct democracy.

MessageI also see that the PPK is part of an organization for "regionalism in democracy." What about democracy in regionalism?

MessageWe would support local mayors being elected by a dance-off, other then that local people should decide who should be the local queen

MessageThe PPK believes in the princple of subsidiarity, ie that government functions should be exercised at the lowest practicable level. This is not A matter for the central government! We are not aware of any 'rogue local governments' if the PPP is perhaps it should inform the Senat?
