Description[?]:
We are introducing this bill to the effect of clearly delimiting the spheres of competence of the military and the police. We believe it is very detrimental to the morals of the military when they are required to fulfill police tasks. Also, the police needs to adapt to the democratic functioning of our society, which is, in our view, hampered by military influence within it. Message | Mr. Susanasdöttir, There is currently no influence of the military in the police force as we are not in a state of emergency. In the current state of law, should there be a serious emergency which the police cannot handle, and because of which the safety of the people will be threatened, only then will the military have any influence whatsoever, an influence which will be temporary. Message | Opposed. Why do you seek to limit the capabilities of our nation to defend it's citizens, Mr. Susanasdöttir? Julia Taylor, Inner Party Leader |

Message | We oppose this legislation on the basis for a lack of common sense. Should a civilian constituted and run police organization require the military to aid it, why shouldn't it be allowed to call for the necessary aid? The law already set in place gives leeway, ensuring the military does not become oppressive and will not exceed its limit of power. This ensures the local police have jurisdiction and the ability to run their own operations without any interruption what-so-ever. And, should they ever need the help of the military, an organization that is capable of handling incidents the police would never be able to handle themselves, they can make the call on whether or not they need it. If we trust in our local police forces and the intelligence of our citizens, we will do them justice by having this bill be the exemplar for future legislations.
