Message | This legislation is a stop to the idealistic gun-free state and will help Solentria to develop in a way that is free from gun crime, though continuing to avoid a total lack of armed defence and damage to the security of the nation. We hope that you will all continue to support the long and ever-going fight for continual change and movement of the state. With regards. Constance Borron: UPD shadow secretary for Justice. {This bill is supported by Elodie Western-Parker: UPD Party Leader.} |

Message | The Labour Party is pleased some work is being done to combat gun crime, after all the latest news. Gun Crime is becoming too frequent and something needs to be done. But what measures would the UPD make to ensure that the Police are still well equipped when combating crime, remembering that police officers are often faced with gun holding citizens. |

Message | Constance Borron: UPD shadow secretary for Justice- Of course we understand that violent and weapon carrying citizens may be opposing the Police force, however it is important to remember that a dead criminal, is one who will not be punished. Significant and useful measures may be taken to allow Police officers to defend themselves without the use of lethal weapons. Across the globe, countries find that trunchons, pepper-spray and teaser-guns are sufficient to render a criminal unconscious or disarmed. It would be useful to remember also, that the special squadrons would still be available under this law, to combat armed criminals, and if the police do not have warning about armed criminals, their training and equipment should compensate sufficiently to ease the situation until armed Police may arrive, if they feel that it is neccassary. |

Message | We agree with many of the points the UPD has expressed. As a party who condems Gun Crime, this seems like a good solution to easing the problems our country faces, certainly in terms of Gun Crime. Our party believes in other solutions to crime other than guns and violence. Disarming the police therefore seems like a good solution in cracking down on Gun Crime and Disorder. We will therefore back this bill through parliament. |

Message | The Workers Party welcome the initiative of the UPD, and votes yes. The working class has always been the primary victim of police violence in our country; we hope that such legislation will help lowering it. Ersebet Piantella - Deputy Secretary General, Workers Party |

Message | Before the Labour Party can fully back this bill, we must enquire one final time into the safety of our Police Force. Whilst we recognise the public are the number one prioirty, the police who take on these tricky tasks are also heavily important and we must protect them. Wouldn't a gun protect them better than say pepper spray if they are faced with a gun and a gun holding criminal? Message | The Workers Party reminds that a significant part of the crimes committed with guns is made possible by the theft of police firearms. The international experience also shows that most criminals are more likely to act armed if they know that the police has guns. Ersebet Piantella - Deputy Secretary General, Workers Party |

Message | The issue the Workers Party addressed is an important one, which the Labour Party takes into consideration. But if people carrying guns face unarmed police, can we ensure police safety? |
Date | 22:40:47, September 01, 2007 CET | From | New Centre and Unionists | To | Debating the Police and Lethal weapons |
Message | Constance Borron: UPD shadow secretary for Justice- The views expressed are legitimate and understandable ones. We do feel that the safety of the Police force is a priority of equal importance of the safety of the public. There are however, two important things to keep in mind; 1) A criminal who knows the Police are armed, are more likely to arm themselves. 2) It is the duty of a Police officer to protect the public, just as a member of the military risks their life, or a judge risks their reputation, a priest risks their faith, the police risk themselves, to uphold justice. |
