"Three justices voted in favor of overturning this bill as unconstitutional. Therefore it stands that a) Citizenship is granted based on race/religion/gender, b) Only those born to nationals become nationals, and c) All nationals are required to register their race and religion. The remaining portions of the bill were not challenged by the Christian Nationalists and were not addressed by the court ruling."

MessageOOC: It's mostly explained in the court posts detailing the passage of the bill, but here's the scoop: there are five justices, each controlled by a party (some parties have more than one). If a bill passes and someone wants to challenge it, they post a thread and ask for votes (and cast votes if they control justices). A majority of voting justices will overturn a bill. At that point, the legislature can vote to clarify (even if its just an empty referendum post), or they can let the judicial ruling stand. We have to keep a record of these rulings, because the game will say one thing, while our roleplay, having overturned the laws, will say that the laws on the books don't actually count.

If there is a vacancy on the court, the Director General can nominate a person from any party to fill the vacancy. That person fills the seat for 20 years to simulate an average lifespan of a judge.

The court helps make our country feel more stable since random new parties can't pass sweeping bills that radically change the laws. Well, they can pass the laws, but the court can overturn them because the court will typically be made up of whoever ran Keymon 5, 10, or 20 years ago.

There's a vacancy right now, and you get to appoint someone to fill it. I tried, but nobody wanted there to be three Christian Nationalist justices. I wonder why. ;-)

MessageOOS: This is bullshit and as I said I won't respect it even if you stand on your bloody head. This will completely confuse any new party in Keymon..... Simply the court doesn't exist for me... don't bother me with it

MessageOOC: Well, I can understand that you might not like it. I don't think it's good to be rude about it. . . if you really hate it, I can recommend a lot of countries where they don't roleplay where you might feel more comfortable. Otherwise, this was unanimously approved and has not confused anybody so far, so I hope you change your mind and join us in playing this game.
