Bill: Flat Tax Compromise Proposal
Details
Submitted by[?]: Democratic Rationalists (PrCoa)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 2469
Description[?]:
Thanks to right-wing tax cuts, Aloria is again running a budget deficit, this time even larger than before. We have a choice if we want to remain fiscally responsible: raise taxes or cut spending. Currently, Alorian government spending accounts for less than %3 of GDP. That's preposterously small. Government spending in most nations accounts for 20-30% or more of GDP. Alorian government is irresponsibly small. Budget cuts now are not needed, and irresponsible. This bill proposes a compromise "flat tax" to make up the federal budget shortfall. Under this bill, about %80 of Alorians get a tax cut. Only the roughly %20 of Alorians with an income over 12000 ALOs pay any taxes at all. They only pay taxes on their income over 12000 ALOs, and then at the modest rate fo 10%. If this bill passes, the Democratic Rationalists will neither propose nor vote for more graduated income tax bills until the income tax is changed, either in percentage or taxable income level. |
