Bill: Freedom! Bill
Details
Submitted by[?]: Totalitarian Capitalist Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2477
Description[?]:
We need to give our people an even greater degree of freedom. As such we propose the following: Article 1: Abortion being only allowed in medical emergencies is extremely backwards. Imagine a woman is in a financially poor situation, to the point where if she had a baby it would mean the difference between poverty and living a normal life. Not to mention that an unwanted child will not be cared for sufficiently and will become a dysfunctional member of society. Dysfunctional people, are not economically productive... Article 2: We should free up the adoption rules a little. Many people are put off by all the administrative 'red tape' surrounding it, so to speak. The only regulation it should have is to screen out people with a record of child abuse. This will ensure that more children are adopted rather than left trapped without a family, and ensure that the adopted children remain as safe as possible. Article 3: We should allow private companies to go into space. Of course, I'm sure there'd be some opposition to totally unregulated space usage, so we opted for the next best thing. Contracting them to do work for us, as well as keeping an eye on their independent efforts as the private sector, means all the might of the private sector can contribute vastly to our efforts in space. |

Message | A child can easily be put up for adoption if a women does not want it. I would rather have a 'dysfunctional' person than a dead child. |

Message | Regarding Article 1, "The only regulation it should have is to screen out people with a record of child abuse.". This makes no allowance for potential child abusers. Aside from this condition, a good proposal overall. |
