Greg, did you even WATCH the videos??? This "bill" was NOT to be taken seriously in game hence the caption "OOC" in the title. I was trying to stimulate "unofficial" discussion of the issues raised by the videos.

MessageOOC: I admit, I only got a minute into the first one before I decided it was pretentious wankery. "You own your life"? SUre - if meaningless assertions are valid - knock yourself out. But what is the supporting argument? Oh - they basically repeat it in slightly different words.

That's the problem. 'Liberty' doesn't exist, except as a concept... and it can only be supported by creating other equally meaningless concepts to 'explain' it. To believe that some people are actually suckered by such self-satisfying pseudophilosophy is desperately depressing.

Worse still - the entire philosophy is almost entirely a Judeo-Christian Western hemispherical phenomenon, but is a rebellion both against established human nature (i.e. people instinctively assume possession of one another, or assume position as possession) and against Judeo-Christian principles (i.e. the Christian ideal is submission - to make oneself a servant of all others).

So... baseless concept, supported by equally baseless symbolism, contrary to natural law, contrary to western culture.

I'll admit, I didn't even bother watching any more.

Drang, if you didn't watch the videos, then that is (indirectly) admitting that you are argument against freedom and liberty is NULL & VOID!!! In other words, I win by DEFAULT (haha).

The idea is that in the same way that everybody is UNITED in agreeing that it is morally and ethically wrong for me to break into your home and STEAL your goods, it is the essentially the same thing if I organize a mob and lobby the Government to pass a law that FORCES you to give me your goods.

MessageI don't agree that it is morally wrong to steal, or murder.

It is culturally wrong, in the culture I live in, but there is no over-riding moral or ethical code beyond the ones we make and break every day, and they certainly aren't universal.

Non wanting to watch some crappy youtube shit doesn't make or break anyones argument, it just means some people have better things to do with their time.

Immeressence, I agree with you that "moral values" are RELATIVE to each individual culture, but there are just SOME morals that are UNIVERSAL and that includes theft and murder as well as lying.

However, morals such that include SEXUALITY and religion are relative.

MessageThe CWFP are curiously naive...

"Murder" must always be culturally unacceptable, as long as the laws of the culture are directly linked to the cultural ethos. Why? Simple - because "murder" specifically means illegal killing. On the other hand... many cultures have allowed killings to be managed in a legal fashion - which, even if premeditated and unprovoked, would theoretically not be murder. Duelling, for example, is a classical example of premeditated killing that is not murder.

Similarly, lying is all a matter of context...

On the subject of 'theft'... property is something that has different rules in different cultures. What you onsider 'theft' would be a nonsense to someone else.

FYI, dueling is illegal in ALL Western Democracies. The Death Penalty is illegal in ALL countries, with exceptions being the U.S., Iraq, Iran, China, and Saudia Arabia.

MessageAll property is theft. Does that mean ownership of property is against the universal morals?

In some cultures cannibalism is accepted. In some, killing, and in some, duelling. If a moral is universalm then using western democracies only as an example is deeply flawed.

If the death penalty is legal in 5 countries, then it is clearly not universally condemned, and not illegal in ALL countries. The word you want there is MOST, by the way.

MessageOOC: Why is it that the CWFP seem completely incapable of bridging the gap between IN and OUT of character?

In Terrna law, how sure are you that duelling is universally illegal, hmmm? The death penalty?

Assuming you mean the 'realworld' thing.. duelling is NOW illegal. That's a fairly recent innovation. Are you quite sure duelling is illegal everywhere?

The death penalty is only recently universally illegal in places like the UK (where, until recently, it was maintained for certain capital offences... although it was not acted upon). And - as the CWFP points out - it STILL is not illegal in the US.

It might be worth mentioning 'euthanasia" laws, that vary from nation to nation, but that allow one person to (effectively) 'kill' another.

(1) First and foremost, I did bridge the gap between IN & OUT of character, b/c the label "OOC" was CLEARLY inserted in the SUBJECT HEADING of the bill!!! Therefore, it is necessary to include "OOC" in every comment since the WHOLE bill is already "OOC" (common sense)

(2) To Immerence, I was completely justified in my language of saying ALL countries b/c, remember, I explictly INCLUDED the word "except the following." That just simply means, "with the exception of the 5 countries, the death penalty is illegal EVERYWHERE (else)!!!"

(3) Cannablism is not only murder, it is INSANE; Think Jeffery Dahmer [ :( ]. Whether murder is accepted in another culture or not, it can NEVER be justified except in SELF-defense. Cannibalism, however, can be morally acceptable ONLY on the hypothetical condition that you are stuck on a deserted island and there is absolutely NO food. Then again, ethical questions STILL raise b/c how do you determine "who" should be "eaten."

(4) Immerence, what the heck are you talking about??? How is property theft??? That is the most irrational statement that I have EVER heard. Why? B/c the very DEFINITION of theft is "the confiscation of someone's property."

MessageThere is nothing insane about cannibalism. There might be health concerns, but pretty much every culture has (at some point in it's long-distant past) eaten it's enemies... and sometimes, it's friends.

You might be squeamish about it, but that doesn't make it insane. Quite the opposite.

(Indeed, it's worth pointing out that most christian denominations still practise symbolic cannibalism).

MessageAnd the CWFP have DARED to complain about other parties wasting Convocation time?

This is a pointless trivial waste of convocation time, and it won't be a waste of ours. We refuse to endorse this kind of activity by voting either for OR against it.

Random fact: When you join the game, you will find yourself with only zero seats. That's because your party's representatives haven't been elected yet. You need to establish your party's position on issues by proposing several bills that your party wants passed and sending them to vote. This raises your visibility and if you do it enough, you will win seats at the next election.
