Bill: Helping Ordinary People End Suffering (HOPES) Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: SocLib '82

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2493

Description[?]:

Crack cocaine, heroin, and crystal meth are all examples of drugs that are artificially made with severe and widespread negative effects on Hutorians across the nation. These harmful drugs are responsible for rampant death and disease and HIV is made more accessible to those that inject to get a high. SocLib '82 feels that naturally occurring drugs, such as cannabis and rooms are acceptable because while they produce sensational highs and disorientation, they are relatively easy to regulate and are not necessarily addictive.

We should make it easier and cheaper for people to acquire naturally occurring drugs and force the prices of other drugs through the roof to make them inaccessible, and use the proposed HLR5 billion boost to the Health and Social Services budget to rehabilitate users of harmful, artificial drugs.

This bill should increase productivity and hopefully lower unemployment for the population. We should at least give it a try for the sake of our populace, and most importantly, the next generation of Hutorians. The HOPES Act will revolutionize Hutori for the better.

MessageIf we ban them, they'll just go get them other places which will actually increase crime in Hutori and why should we be able to tell people what they can and cannot put in their bodies?

MessageTo think that we should allow people to destroy their own lives by not having a say on the issue of drug use is ludicrous. SocLib '82 supports personal freedoms but we do NOT believe in sacrificing public health at the expense of civil liberty. We are proposing extensive rehabilitation programs to curb the use of hard drugs.

Sure, some will seek them through another route but if they are caught, they are to be placed in rehab centers rather than jail. Mafias will be cracked down on and also rehabilitated. We cannot promise full success but there is a need for health in our nation to improve, and this is one step we can take to do that.

MessageIt's simply outrageous - you will hand drug market to the organised crime groups. No WAR on drugs.

MessageWe aren't planning on waging a WAR on drugs, we simply want to curb its use. We're surprised to see the Royalist Confederacy have such a libertarian position on this issue, considering the fact that millions of families are ripped apart by drug use every year.
