Details

Submitted by[?]: Partie Patriotique de Kanjor

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2498

Description[?]:

It is inconceivable to patent such basic things as mathematical theorems and algorithms, which belong to the developer as much as gravity belongs to Newton. Furthermore we cannot afford to patent software because it would slow down research making impossible new innovation and would creating monopolies.

MessageThe current law does not explicitly state but it does include it, otherwise why would the proposed law mention those things? Software already has the protection of our copyright laws so that those who author it may benefit, it does not need further protections.

MessageIntelligent and inventive Kanjorans should be glad to share their inventions with all. More free knowledge is much more valuable than incentives and profit.
