Bill: Assist Sekowo

Details

Submitted by[?]: Meritocratic Alliance

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2499

Description[?]:

We've heard the pleas of the Pan-Sekowo Family Values Party. We know their strife and the situation in Sekowo worsens daily. May I suggest humbly that if we do not work now on sending military forces to bolster them against the lefists hoard. The same could well happen to us, so we must act in this situation.

Senators, I call for a resolution of military aid to the Pan Sekowo Family Values Party and it's allies in the civil war, there. We put it to a vote, but we also wish for your thoughts.

Sen Marrie Newberry, SRNP

MessageThe PSFVP is thankful for this chance to address your legislature directly.

We have asked for international assistance, not simply because we need more resources to defeat the leftist extremists, but because this is truley a global issue. This is not about left vs right, this is about democratic process. For decades, the DSP and its allies held a majority in our legislature, and the right to make decisions that comes with it. They pursued a heavy socialist ideology through their laws, that was against the wishes of many of our right win parties, the PSFVP included. Yet despite the fact we did not agree with what was being done, we did not oose faith in democratic process, we went back to our constituences and campaigned for their vote. We won a majority and were able to enact free market reforms, for the good of Sekowo and its overburdened government and economy.

Yet when it was our turn in power, the leftists were not as accomodating. Rather than do what we did, and appeal to the people, the leftists have reached for their guns. If they are able to win this civil war, it will set a precedent world wide, that if you cannot gain the things you want when you want them throuigh democracy, open war is the answer. Thus, the leftist extremists in Sekowo represent a threat to democratic process and tradition on a truely global scale.

To that end, we ask for your help in defeating them, and restoreing order and justice to Sekowo.

MessageThe current view of the People Party and the Foreign Office at this time is that we simply don't wish to participate in a civil war of another country without discussing the issue with the leftist parties you mention. We feel there is a serious of actions which can be taken before resorting to these drastic and quite dangerous measures. Why might I also enquire have you called on Solentia to help with this problem in particular? Also, I hope to engage in private discussions with your country/party privately and cannot understand why your party as overlapped the stage of discussing this policy with Foreign Office, it seems far too quick cut.

MessageMEDIA BULLITEN

Foreign Secretary Timothy Cooper and Supreme President Deirdre Wessex tonight have began talks with major political parties from Sekowo in a bid to discuss military action. It is feared these talks are too late as this issue sprang upon Solentia at too soon a pace. We have yet to hear about these discussions and as far as we know theyare continuing. The discussions shall continue throughout the night. It is believed Deirdre Wessex is furious at military action and is doing her best to prevent this action from occuring.

after considering this situation this evening we have come up with following:

*Solentia will NOT be a part of this civilwars.

and we also come up with this:

*Solentia will NOT be involved military in any other countries civilwars, it's their problems not us.

*Solentia will ONLY send assist to a nation under attack from an other nation IF the other country is a threat to us.

MessageSRNP is now committed. I'm sure you all read the news. I read to you this report, but I remind you that we used no state resources in this, and as such the volunteers leaving for Sekowo do not represent the nation of Solentia. More is the pitty:

2200 persons have joined the VAC and have left. The force includes 400 Solentian Q-7 jet fighters. An older jet phased out by the Solentian military, they were removed from storage and refitted for ground attack duty armed with multiple cannons and automatic turreting guns. Two CR-3 cargo planes fill out the roster of the small force. The fighters were bought from the scrap yard and no state funds were used in their purchase or refurbishment.

The RNVAC is headed by former SAF Cdr Laurence Grey.

We accept any volunteers from other parties, or nonpartisans, to assist us in aiding Sekowo.

MessageWe have done our best as a party to sort out this problem and engage in disucssions and negotiations, we can do nothing to stop the other countries problem as it looks like the civil war has already begun. Aside from this I am glad it looks likely we have won this vote and that we will not be sending our troops over to another country. Whilst the issue is regretable for the country, it doesn't pose a threat on our country based on the evidence the Foreign Office has and therefore this seems totally stupid.

MessageI recommend my distinguisied colleague Rochelle to the laws of our nation:
Ownership of guns by private individuals.

Adult individuals are allowed to own and purchase guns freely.

Weapon concealment

Where weapons are carried, this must be done openly

Now then, no law broken. We've been invited by a faction
The weapons were fitted openly to the Q7 jets. The jets were decomissioned from military service long before the VAC purchased them. The avionics upgrades were approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology. (the rebuilt Q7's are actually Q7-B marques after these upgrades and weapon changes). The technology is not being shared with the faction in Sekowo which we, the SRNP, recognize as the rightful government of Sekowo.

If the UPD wishes to try to prosecute SRNP it has not the means to do so. If those WITH the means to do so attempt it, I can assure you we will defend our selves in both court and on the streets. Take that for what you will. In any case, I don't recall seeing many Solentian police in Sekowo. You should be honoring our patriotic fighters, not castigating them in open sessions of this Senate. For shame!

MessageSolentian Politics is NOT the place for these drastically crude games. This isnt a battlefield gentlemen, this is REAL HUMAN LIFE. This is the future of hundreds of thousands of Sekowoans, and is nothing to do with us. You cannot simply martch into another nation with a private army. It's unthinkable.

If only we were convinved by your wishing of peace. We firmly believe that you are using this war for your own political advantage and nothing more. This country poses no thread to any other country bar their own and this is the only case where our army should be allowed to go to that country and take some form of action with that country. Even then we need approval by the Foreign Office who need to be convinced by this as well as other international assosiations. This civil war is already causing problems for that country without you sending in private RadNad troops. If you were so intent on peace, why on earth would you send in troops as foreign volunteers as surely giving assistance to them would only fuel these issues further.

MessageMadame Supreme President,

One does not bring about peace with good will. One brings about peace by robbing the enemy of their will to fight, by any means necessary. Even now I have reports from the Flying Tigers that they are setting up base in Sekowo. Moral is high, yet if only they knew that even their own Supreme President treats them almost like brigands, I hate to think how that would make our fighting men feel.

The national army is assuredly here in Solentia. Perhaps your voters will approve of that. Perhaps not.

There really isn't more to be said about the issue.

MessageThe Normand Pluralist Party, as well as the rest of the Sekowo People's Alliance would like to thank the Solentian Radical Nationalist Party for supporting Democracy in Sekowo.

We are currently in the Middle of a crisis where the Democractic Socialists and Communists of Sekowo are attempting to overthrow the popularly elected government of Sekowo and replace it with a puppet government which supports their ideologies.

Several parties in Sekowo (The Sentinels of Liberty, the Pan-Sekowo Family Values Party, the Archonic Union of Politea, and the Normand Pluralist Party) are striving to ensure that democracy is maintained in Sekowo, but without foreign aid, our task is that much more difficult.

The Leftist faction is now supported by the Pan-Terra Red Army, as part of their drive to conquer all of Terra for Communism. We ask as the elected representatives of the people of Sekowo. Please help us, and PLEASE start a second bill on this matter.

MessageThe fact of the matter is, the decision to send our troops into your country is evidently not going to happen as it is such an piopular issue. The fact we have had one vote shows excactly how much this country doesn't want this to happen, and no I for one will not be opening a second debate/vote on this issue as I feel it would be a waste of time.

Random quote: “The people's war isn't just a war of destruction, it is also a war of construction. We will build new facilities, new hospitals, new farms. We will seek to improve the lives of the people around us. This struggle will be as costly as the struggle against the bourgeois army, and indeed will be even more damaging to the enemy.” - Comrade X, former Hulstrian politician
