Message | Peace and progress have very real enemies. One of them is weaponry. |

Message | That's interesting logic, PPPP. Essentially, if we freely give weaponry to anyone, they're more likely to become our enemies. Gosh! I wish I was this rational! :) |

Message | Excuse me, but may I ask what is weaponry used for? I never said that selling weapons to people will make them our enemies- indeed we have very few enemies if any BECAUSE we do not engage in pointless violence or in the distribution of tools of violence. Your libertarianism is fine enough, but when you think that Kanjor should actively distribute means for murder and destruction you should be ashamed of yourself. |

Date | 04:43:59, December 15, 2007 CET | From | Parti Libertaire | To | Debating the Export Act |
Message | We don't promote selling tools of violence, we simply believe in a free market. If we choose not to sell weapons of certain countries over others, we're showing contempt. We aren't stopping them from getting those weapons, they'll simply get them elsewhere. OOC, speaking of Afghanistan... well, there were many more factors involved in THAT, now weren't there? Ah, finally, debate. It's nice to see disagreement in some form different from how we vote. |

Message | We're not showing contempt if we sell arms to no one. I believe you can bring this down to whether one believes in absolutely free enterprise or believes that the purpose of government is to limit the problems and inequality that capitalism causes. This is also an issue of security; if no one receives arms from Kanjor then we send the message that we do not support violence, which should be absolutely true even for our fascists. As I understand the DPUF, they are actually a rather mild group of fascists, seeking authoritarian control in some facets of life in order to maintain conservative values. No one in this senate wants to see Kanjor attacked or for our country to attack others unprovoked. In this cause, the members of this Parti Pour Paix et Progress vote a resounding NON and rest their case. |

Message | Wait, can we sell these arms to poorer nations engaged in civil war, and watch as we stockpile money, and they stockpile weaponry and civilian corpses? |
