Bill: Economy Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Christian Federalist Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2578
Description[?]:
Having such a rediculously high minimum wage hurts are economy by heavily decreasing the amount of jobs in the market. This bill would still allow for a high minimum wage but not so high that we suffer from massive unemployment because employers can't afford to pay a worker enough to support a family of four. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The nation's policy on minimum wage regulation.
Old value:: There shall be a minimum wage at a level that a full time worker on it can support a family of four without falling under the poverty line.
Current: There shall be a minimum wage at a level considered a "living wage," well above the poverty line for a full time worker.
Proposed: There shall be a minimum wage at a level that a single full time worker on it can adequately subsist.

Message | To "support a family of four" means in this case to afford very basic needs for your wife and your (two) kids. This amount is not high; if a company cannot afford to pay such a low wage, they shouldn't hire so many employees. |
Date | 00:16:17, May 19, 2008 CET | From | Christian Federalist Party | To | Debating the Economy Act |
Message | Better to have a lower paying job than no job. Companies that can hire more can benefit the economy more by serving others more. Small businesses or prospective small businesses will be able to get a foot in the door if their operating costs are lower. Basically, this bill helps the economy grow and keeps unemployment low. |
